Giant trevally are the reason most anglers come to the Andamans. The islands are surrounded by reef edges, pinnacles and current-swept points that see very little fishing pressure. Big GTs hunt there in packs.

We run along structure and cast poppers and stickbaits into the white water. Strikes are violent and visual, and the first ten seconds decide the fight. Every GT is photographed quickly and released.

What to expect

Full days of casting. It’s physical fishing, so expect a workout.
Shots at GTs from 10 kg to well over 40 kg, plus bluefin trevally, groupers and dogtooth on the same lures.
Remote, empty reefs with no other boats around.
Single inline hooks, barbless on request, and fast releases.
